Here, we have boys & girls anywhere from new to the sport to state champion level and kids committing to compete to colleges their Junior and senior level years in high school. You’ll often find even with how advanced some kids are, we try to let them start here in 4th grade through 12th grade with weights starting around 60lbs and going up to 250lbs or so for HWTs. We kick it up a notch and expect kids to learn fast if they don’t have much experience yet. We often are showing moves that college level wrestlers are currently using to be the best and do try to keep a curriculum of what we’ve gone over in the past vs what the majority of our room needs to improve on in the future.
Kids asking coaches for extra help, review their matches, how to lose weight for bigger competitions is very common.
We are committed to improving what each kids likes for their own style and helping them get to improve their mental and physical ability in the sport. We expect not necessary high level here, but high focus, effort, and coachability. We want our kids to trust our coaches so when we suggest doing something in practice or competition, we have earned that trust they do it without hesitation. That trust is earned through consistent practices.
Coach ratio to kids here are roughly 12:1 but on occasion can be 6:1 with some very hands on coaching available.
